Railroad Equipment usually refers to anything that rides on rails, but mostly includes locomotives and rolling stock, of which there are many different types and styles. Some are no longer in service but important to know as historical references. Sometimes it's difficult to keep all the terminology straight unless you use it every day. Here is an article in the BYMRR.com website that may be helpful - Model Trains for Your Railroad. There are also some great books available that are full of information about the many different types of railroad locomotives and rail-cars that also provide some historical perspective about them.
We try to list a variety of equipment in this section to give you a good choice of both steam and diesel locomotives with and without DCC and sound, along with various types of rolling stock, including multiple scales and road-names, etc. However, it's impossible to list all of them. We also don't list anything here that doesn't already have at least a 3-4 star review. If you are looking for a particular model that you don't see listed here, please let us know so we can find it for you at the best price available.
